Vulcan Nexus Cladding is a fine finger jointed, thermally modified timber cladding system supplied by Duce Architectural Timbers that delivers long, continuous lines, high stability and certified sustainability for architectural exteriors.

Vulcan Nexus Cladding

Abodo Vulcan® Nexus Cladding is a premium weatherboard product,

Vulcan Nexus Cladding by Abodo is designed for architects, builders and designers who want straight, uninterrupted lines and consistent appearance across large wall areas. The product is created from thermally modified New Zealand Radiata Pine and then finger jointed and laminated to produce long, straight boards. The result is a premium weatherboard with a controlled, uniform grain pattern and a fine bandsawn face that coats evenly and ages with character.

One of the key advantages of Vulcan Nexus Cladding is dimensional stability. The timber is heat treated using only heat and steam rather than harsh chemicals, which pulls out excess resins and essentially pre shrinks the material. The vertical grain orientation further reduces cupping and surface checking in service. This means the boards are less likely to warp, twist or telegraph movement in high temperatures, and can confidently take darker coatings that would normally be risky on many softwoods.

Sustainability sits at the core of the system. Abodo sources FSC® certified plantation timber and verifies that each square metre of Vulcan timber stores more carbon than was produced in its manufacture. The long board lengths reduce waste on site and reduce the need for frequent joints, which also improves visual continuity. Supplied through Duce Architectural Timbers with trade support, Vulcan Nexus Cladding is suited to residential builds, premium renovations and light commercial applications where performance and aesthetics both matter.

Info & Files

What is Vulcan Nexus Cladding?
Vulcan Nexus Cladding is a thermally modified, finger jointed and laminated timber weatherboard system supplied by Duce Architectural Timbers. It is designed for long, continuous lines and stable exterior performance in Australian conditions.

Why are the boards supplied in long lengths?
The boards are engineered and finger jointed to reach lengths of up to around 6 metres. Longer lengths reduce visible joins, speed up install and improve the overall linear aesthetic on large walls.

Can I install Vulcan Nexus Cladding vertically and horizontally?
Yes. The universal secret fix profile allows both vertical and horizontal orientation, so you can run consistent lines around complex elevations without swapping systems.

Is this suitable for darker coated finishes?
Yes. The heat tempered process improves stability and reduces resin bleed, so Vulcan Nexus Cladding can confidently take darker tones such as Nero, Ebony and Graphite without the usual risk of distortion caused by heat gain.

How is the timber treated for durability and termites?
The timber is thermally modified using heat and steam, not harsh chemicals, and then treated with TPX to H2F standard. In regions north of the Tropic of Capricorn, H3 LOSP treatment is available for increased termite resistance.

Is Vulcan Nexus Cladding suitable for bush fire zones?
The product is Group 3 rated to AS5637. For bush fire prone areas, speak with us for project specific detailing and compliance options.

What maintenance is required over time?
Wash down annually, inspect junctions and flashings, and recoat with penetrating oil every 2 to 3 years or as required to maintain colour and board integrity. High sun exposure or coastal sites may need more frequent coating.

What substrates and fixing methods are recommended?
Boards are typically fixed over a breathable wrap or cavity batten system, using stainless steel or approved galvanised fixings. Studs or battens should be set at maximum 600 mm centres in line with NCC requirements.

Is Vulcan Nexus Cladding environmentally certified?
Yes. It is FSC® certified, has an Environmental Product Declaration and is Declare Red List Free, which supports transparency for green building programs.

Who supplies Vulcan Nexus Cladding in Queensland and New South Wales?
Duce Architectural Timbers supplies Vulcan Nexus Cladding and provides specification support, product guidance and trade level assistance for builders, designers and architects.
